Smuttynose Wins Gold at GABF

Great news was shouted around the world from The Great American Beer Festival this past weekend. In the category of ‘Other Strong Beers’ (Category 13), Smuttynose Brewery took Gold for their Wheat Wine.

From Smuttynose: Smuttynose Wheat Wine Ale is a unique hybridization of two well-known beer styles, combining the rich, voluptuous taste of a traditional barleywine with the subtle, tart flavors of an American wheat ale, topped off with a healthy dose of crisp, herbaceous hops.

Their Wheat Wine took gold at GABF in 2005 as well, and it picked up another gold medal at the 2010 Mondial de la Biere in Strasbourg, France. Congratulations to to Peter Egelston and brewer David Yarrington and the rest of the Smuttynose crew!
