Chowder and Cocktails Weekend

For those off gallivanting at the American Craft Beer Festival this weekend, I am jealous of you. But for those who are sticking around the seacoast area this weekend with nothing to do, here are some excellent options.

27TH ANNUAL WOKQ CHOWDER FESTIVAL

Prescott Park
Saturday, June 4, 2011
11:30 am ’til the chowder is gone
$10 Adults, $5 Youth (12 & under)

The downtown area will be packed with chowder lovers. Prescott Park will host the event where all the local restaurants come together and pour gallons of chowder down your gullet. Doesn’t sound appetizing yet? Well some of last year’s entries included Smoked Scallop Chowder, Manhattan Chowder, Vegetarian Chowder, Corn Chowder, and Spicy Seafood Chowder. This festival comes with a personal warning from me. Last year I went with some friends an hour after it started and 30 minutes after that the chowder was gone. I hope the restaurants took note of the crowd last year and prepared more for this year.

5th Annual Portsmouth Cocktail Competition

Sheraton Hotel (starting location)
Sunday, June 5, 2011
4pm-8pm
$20 Event Pass (Includes Souvenir Shot Glass and Event Map)

Settle your ACBF hangover with more alcohol! This will be my first non-beer event since starting my blog (took forever I know). The event features 8 restaurants in downtown competing for the title of “Best Signature Cocktail of Portsmouth”. Each participating restaurant will offer sampling of their competing cocktail to event pass holders. A full serving of the competing cocktail can be purchased at $4.00. There is also a “Best Paired Cocktail and Appetizer” chosen on event day. To purchase your event pass and for more information go to their website (link).

Brewery’s 20th Anniversary Events

And of course don’t forget about the crazyness happening at the Brewery this weekend, details on their “Studio 56” transformation and their family style BBQ can be found in my previous post (link).

Hope I just gave you something to do this weekend. If all else fails have an awesome beer and tell me about it!

Cheers,
B
