Seacoast Brew News Vol 2

What’s happening around the Seacoast?
Week of 11-22-2010

Highlighting what’s on tap in the area bars and shops.

Gaslight

  • Harpoon Tasting

Gaslight is ringing in the holiday season with a Harpoon tasting on December 8 from 6-8pm. Pints of Harpoon will be $3 and they are featuring the ‘Apple Pie’ pint, a mixture of Harpoon Winter Warmer and Harpoon Cider. Adam at Brew England wrote about this in his blog on a trip to the Harpoon Brewery and boy does it look yummy!

  • Daily Beer Specials

When I was in the Pizza Pub for calzones and a pitcher of Eddies Famous Brick Oven Brown I noticed the Gaslight not only has a happy hour but every day they have a daily beer special. Check out the menu above. I will put these daily deals into the calendar so you always know what’s going on at the Gaslight.

Portsmouth Brewery

  • New Bar Menu (11-close Fri and Sat)

Last week Peter from the brewery sent out a tweet/facebook message about ‘something new’ at the bar. The little hamsters were spinning their wheels in my head and I immediately thought he was talking about Kate the Great. Luckily I was just out of work and close by so I stopped in and talked to Adam at the bar. “Stupid question, but is Kate on?”. He said nope and wasn’t sure what the ‘new thing’ was. Turns out that night they released their new bar snack menu. I was excited for the menu, but mad it wasn’t Kate because I was in the right place at the right time. The menu looks really tasty and it is available from 11-close on Friday and Saturday.

  • New Lapanza Menu

On top of the new Bar menu they are switching things up in the Lapanza Lounge with some new cheap food menu items. See for yourself.

Middle Street Market & Deli

There’s a new deli in town. The store on Middle St has been a couple of different things in the past 2 years. More recently it was Naber Market and now it is Middle Street Market & Deli. When I went there they were currently renovating some of the area to add tables so you can eat there. The sandwich was very good and the beer selection is surprisingly awesome. Brian, who works behind the deli counter and is a Bartender at Fat Belly’s says they hope to have beer tastings in the future once everything is set with the renovations. I look forward to see what brew they can get there.

NH Scene Up

Last Thursday was the Porstmouth Foursquare meetup, NHTweetUp SceneUp and Scene@Five event at The Music Hall. Basically the who’s who of the social media scene in the Seacoast were there and not only was it a fun time from what I’ve heard, but they raised $1,100 for charity! When all was said and done, $22 per Foursquare Check-in was donated (up to 50 check-ins) and the money is going to the Movember Fund. Great job everyone!

A Different Type of Brew

Yesterday my girlfriend and I finally made it over to Kaffee Vansolln to try their coffee. Not only do they have coffee but they have a nice selection of Coffee Cocktails and a couple bottled beers. Shift your morning routine and give them a try. They have fresh baked pastry and the coffee is really good. Perhaps try a cocktail or a Hoegaarden? 😉

All for now, have a great short week!

Cheers,

B
